MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression "Henry" has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and the easterlies and southwest monsoon or "habagat" are now prevailing over the entire archipelago, the state-run weather bureau said on Thursday.
Weather specialist Leanne Loreto of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in a 5 a.m. briefing that the country would be storm-free for the next two to three days.
“We have not monitored any weather disturbance and we are expecting generally-fair weather conditions in the coming days in most parts of the country,” the Pagasa forecaster said.
She said Palawan and Occidental Mindoro would likely have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to habagat while Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, and Antique would be experiencing isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the same weather system.
Meanwhile, the easterlies – winds that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry warm, humid weather – are now affecting Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and Quezon, the national weather agency said.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country owing to the effect of the localized thunderstorms, it added.
