MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) off Eastern Samar that is affecting Metro Manila may develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.
Weather specialist Charmagne Varilla said that if it intensifies, the LPA would be given the name "Henry."
The LPA is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Visayas, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Bicol Region, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon, Varilla said.
Pagasa chief Nathaniel Servando told The Manila Times via Viber that Signal No. 1 may be raised in some Luzon areas due to the impact of the LPA.
He said the entire Visayas could also be affected by the tropical cyclone.
