MANILA, Philippines – The state-run weather agency said Sunday it is closely monitoring the movement of a low-pressure area (LPA), estimated at 890 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, and is likely to become a weather disturbance in a few days.
Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA was not yet expected to intensify into a tropical depression within 24 hours. He said Western Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region are already experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon, locally known as 'habagat', will likely bring overcast skies, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan, Pagasa said.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country would have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
