(UPDATE) MUNTINLUPA Mayor Ruffy Biazon on Wednesday said he remained dissatisfied with Maynilad Water Services' explanation given on the recent daily water service interruptions affecting parts of the city, as residents continued to complain about unreliable supply.
Several villages have experienced intermittent water supply over the past few days, prompting frustration among families who said they were caught off guard by sudden cutoffs.
Residents called for clearer advisories and reliable schedules to plan household needs.
Biazon addressed the issue during a live Facebook broadcast with city officials and Maynilad representatives, including Greg Antonio, head of Water Production South; Alfred Jhon Gallego, head of the Muntinlupa-Las Piñas Business Area; Alvin Cruz, head of Outage Management; and Marie Antonette De Ocampo, head of Corporate Affairs and Communication.
“To be honest, I am not satisfied with the answers. What our countrymen are asking for is clear and reliable scheduling during water interruptions — people know when the water will be out and when it will be back, so that each family can prepare,” Biazon said.
He also demanded full documentation of emergency responses, including water tanker deployments and a detailed plan for future outages, stressing the need for concrete solutions.
Maynilad attributed the interruptions to raw water constraints from Laguna Lake.
Antonio said northeast monsoon winds stirred silt and contaminants, forcing temporary production reduction to protect treatment facilities while ensuring treated water meets Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water.
The company said these conditions affect operations for only six to 10 percent of the year.
Antonio assured residents that while interruptions may recur until water quality normalizes, no household would go without water for 24 hours.
