73% of voters in Malaysia went out to cast their ballots in hopes of a brighter future for the country. The 15th General Elections this year is historic because it is the first time all voters, including those aged 18 and above, were automatically registered. It was also the first time in democratic history that Malaysia experienced a hung Parliament.

Anwar will be sworn in today at 5pm.

GRS deputy chairman Jeffrey Kitingan says he supports the formation of a unity government led by PH.

"A unity government is the best solution I can see right now. However, this government must include the elected governments of Sabah and Sarawak for it to be effective and truly inclusive," he added.

He said he apologised on behalf of DAP if any of the party’s leaders made offensive statements to the government and people of Sarawak.

The Umno supreme council has unanimously made the decision for BN to support and join a unity government, provided it is not led by PN.

The party has also agreed for its MPs to abide by any form of a unity government or otherwise as decreed by YDPA. Zahid will remain as BN Chairman and Umno President.

PH and BN may have come to an agreement on a governing formula, according to a report by NST. 

Amongst the 10-point agreement proposed by PH to BN, the prime minister will be an MP from PH while the deputy prime minister's post will be led by BN.

Senior vice-president of Parti PBB Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said GPS has been advised by the King to consider the possible formation of a unity government.

"His Majesty has given his advice. The four of us who had the audience replied that we could not make a decision whether we agree or not because the decision lies with GPS’ top leadership," says Fadillah.

Ismail Sabri told reporters he was there for a meeting but did not disclose further details. BN chairman Zahid Hamidi is not present at the meeting.

However, when asked whether BN will uphold its decision to be in the Opposition, he replied: "That is not Tuanku’s order”.

According to reports, YDPA will hold special meeting with fellow Rulers at Istana Negara tomorrow (Nov 24). It's understood that The Majesty will be seeking their opinions on the impasse in the formation of a federal government.

The meeting will begin at 10.30am and it is expected to last at least 3 hours.

Muhyiddin Yassin reiterates to the media that he has all 115 statutory declarations, and hence the majority support, to form the government. 

"We were told it was not sufficient. I don't know the reasons behind this. But this is the proof," he added.

He also mentioned that YDPA suggested PH and PN to work together and form a unity government. This suggestion, however, was rejected by him as it goes against the party's stand to not work with PH since the beginning.

Istana Negara has released a media statement with the next course of action. YDPA will be meeting 30 MPs from BN respectively tomorrow at 10.30am at the Istana Negara. This is to ensure that YDPA is able to make an informed decision as to whom shall be appointed as the PM-10.

Anwar has spoken to the media outside of Istana Negara that no confirmation has been made. The final decision is pending YDPA as of now.

Speculation is rife that Anwar will be an interim PM, but Malaysiakini is still waiting for Istana Negara’s confirmation.

Caretaker PM Ismail Sabri confirmed that BN will not be collaborating with any coalition to form a government.

“BN will not be supporting Pakatan Harapan or Perikatan Nasional,” he said in his Tweet. “For now, BN agrees to remain as the opposition.”

The meeting has ended. Only 2 BN MPs Hishamuddin Hussein (Sembrong) and Jalaluddin Alias (Jelebu) have openly rejected PH. As most BN MPs showed their support, PH may have the majority here.

As Malaysia tries to digest the reality of a potential PN-GPS-GRS government, Anwar Ibrahim informed the press that he is confident in his numbers.

"We have enough 112 seats since yesterday," he said, and advised reporters to wait until the next day.

In a plot twist, BN Chairman Zahid Hamidi has refuted the claim by GPS, stating that he has not agreed to form a federal government with PN. All BN MPs who won seats had given Zahid the mandate to decide which coalition to work with, which is expected to be either PN (73 seats) or PH (82 seats).

PH won 82 seats while PN is runner-up with 73. Unfortunately, no coalition has the simple majority (112 seats) to form a Federal Government, resulting in a hung Parliament. According to SPR, results for 3 parliamentary seats, Kota Marudu in Sabah and Baram in Sarawak would not be announced due to weather issues, whereas Padang Serai's polling had been postponed to Dec 7 - making the total seats 219 in today's polling.
