MANILA, Philippines — The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a new three-part series format for the upcoming All-Filipino Conference, set to launch on October 10 in Cebu City.
PVL commissioner Sherwin Malonzo shared that the revamped structure aims to heighten competition across the board, combining results from the first two stages to set up the final series.
Series 1 will introduce a single-round-robin elimination round governed by an "all to play" rule, ensuring every player listed on the match scoresheet gets playing time.
The top four teams will move on to the semifinals—where the top two seeds secure a twice-to-beat advantage—followed by a best-of-three championship series.
Series 2 will follow the same postseason path but lift the mandatory participation rule, allowing coaches complete freedom over player rotations and lineups.
Points accumulated across both Series 1 and Series 2 will be combined to establish the standings heading into the final leg.
Series 3 transitions to a stepladder format. The top two teams overall will earn direct berths to the semifinals, while the remaining teams split into two groups to battle through a stepladder stage for the final two semifinal spots.
After the final four are locked in, best-of-three semifinal matches will determine who meets in the best-of-three finals.
While titles and points are awarded for the first two series, the winner of Series 3 will claim the ultimate title of PVL Philippine Grand Champion. Matches throughout the conference will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, alongside Spikers’ Turf action.
