
MANILA, Philippines — Residents of a condominium building in Quezon City were forced to evacuate Thursday morning after a fire broke out in Eastwood, Barangay Bagumbayan.
Initial reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) indicated that the incident was first reported as a rubbish fire before it escalated and was raised to first alarm at 6:53 a.m.
Thick smoke billowed from the Olympic Tower 3 building, prompting the evacuation of residents as firefighters rushed to contain the blaze.
Videos and photos shared online showed occupants leaving the condominium while emergency responders carried out firefighting operations.
Firefighters remained at the scene Thursday morning to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building.
No casualties or injuries were immediately reported.
Authorities have yet to determine the extent of the damage.
The BFP said an investigation was underway to determine the cause and assess the losses incurred.
