Fireworks play a significant role in the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, symbolizing the joy, unity, and gratitude that define this special occasion. I remember during my childhood days in my hometown, Taiping, Perak, Eid al-Fitr is a time of joy, gratitude, and community & the real tradition of celebrating with fireworks adds a magical touch to this special occasion. Fireworks have long symbolized celebration, happiness, and marking of important milestones. Eid festivities start the night with Takbir, lighting lamps, and celebrated with fireworks and children running around in parades under the watchful eyes of their parents.
In conversations with my grandchildren, I revealed that “As civilizations developed and nations emerged, fireworks became a popular form of celebration during significant events such as coronations, victories, and national holidays. Their use in commemorating real patriotic occasions grew, the inter-winning fireworks with the impactful expression of love for one's country. Fireworks possess a unique ability to visually captivate and mesmerize the spectators.”

In fielding question from my second granddaughter, Ilfi Fatihah (Primary School Year 6): “Why do Muslims do fireworks?”
I explained that “Eid celebration fireworks are often used to mark the end of Ramadan during Eid al-Fitr. The Muslim Holy Month is a period of fasting and deep reflection and Muslims across the world observe the the religious holiday by taking part in traditions such as holding prayers & donating to charity. So, fireworks are a brilliant way of celebrating religious occasions spend with family, neighbors and friends as added value to reciting Quran & prayers."

For this Eid al-Fitr, my son, Farouq has been kind to sponsor in getting sparklers for his son, Daniel and his nephew Fayyadh, and nieces Iffah, Ilfi & Ilyan. On the eve of Eid, after breaking of fast for the last day of Ramadan, they got together to the joyful occasion, by adding sparkling of fireworks celebration.
