Austria full back Konrad Laimer is extending his contract at Bayern Munich after prolonged negotiations reached a conclusion, broadcaster Sky Germany reported on Friday.

The 29-year-old World Cup participant and the German double winners have agreed a new two-year deal running until June 30, 2029, the report said.

An announcement is expected to soon. His original contract still runs until 2027.

Laimer, who can also play in midfield and moved from Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig in 2023, made 47 competitive appearances for Bayern last term, scoring three goals and setting up nine.

The talks have dragged on for more than half a year, with Bayern initially stunned by his high salary request. A middle ground appears to have been found.
