Eintracht Frankfurt head of sport Markus Krösche will not join AC Milan in a similar role, media reports said on Wednesday.
Milan missed out on the Champions League last season after a poor Serie A run-in and fired their whole hierarchy.
After Ralf Rangnick decided to stay coach of Austria long-term, reports suggested the Rossoneri had turned their attention to fellow German Krösche.
But media said the 45-year-old had now informed Frankfurt he would be staying.
The Eagles missed European football via the Bundesliga after a disappointing season which included Krösche's ill-fated recruitment of coach Albert Riera. Former Frankfurt boss Adi Hütter is returning for next term.
Former Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim is heading to the San Siro as coach, but Milan's sporting director search appears to be dragging on.
