
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah emerged overall champions at the MAS/NSC/Milo Para Swimming 2022 -National Leg 2 Championship held at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil from July 5-7.
Their swimmers smashed 10 meet records on the way to winning a total of 22 gold, six silver and six bronze medals to take the title from Selangor who only managed 18 golds, 12 silvers and 12 bronzes.
Paralympian Brenda Anellia Larry was the toast of the team with six golds in addition to three new records while Abdul Halim Mohammad also won six golds with one record.
The other medal contributors were Noorazlan Setoh (two golds, two silvers, one bronze and four records), Jaflee Jikol (two golds, two silvers, one bronze and one record), Chia Faang Jann (one gold, one silver, two bronzes), Shahafiq Abdullah (one gold, one silver), Jonathan Wong Zee Siang (one bronze), Wahyu Eqwal Nazrey (three golds, one bronze and one record) and the 4 x 100m medley relay team of Wahyu, Shahafiq, Chia and Jaflee (one gold).
