Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Karate Association (SKA) fell short to finish second overall in the Milo Open Karate Championship held in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend.
The defending champions had a much smaller squad this time but they still managed to win 11 golds, eight silvers and 12 bronzes behind eventual champions Johor Karate Association who won a total of 16 golds, four silvers and 11 bronzes.
SKA secretary general Julian Chin was impressed with the result despite finishing second and praised the athletes and coaches for the achievement.
“It was never easy to defend the title with a depleted side as we only have 28 athletes in the team as compared to 73 last year.
