TAWAU: Police arrested a 36-year-old local man suspected of drug pushing following the seizure of about 5.40 grammes of syabu at an unnumbered house in Kampung Rancangan Kalabakan on Sunday.
District police chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said district narcotics officers discovered eight transparent plastic packets containing the suspected drugs during the first raid of Op Tapis conducted across Tawau and Kalabakan.
He said the suspect is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession of dangerous drugs exceeding specified limits for purposes other than personal consumption.
Two other men, a 43-year-old local and a 21-year-old foreigner, were also detained in separate raids at SMJ Kampung Rancangan Kalabakan and Kampung Kebun Sapi after police allegedly seized 0.08 grammes and 0.32 grammes of suspected syabu from them, respectively.
All three suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, with investigations also opened under Section 15(1)(a) for drug consumption and Section 12(2) against the second and third suspects for possession, while efforts continue to track the supply chain.
