KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in eight states until 6pm today.

MetMalaysia said in a statement that the weather conditions were expected in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Sarawak and Sabah.

The affected areas are Bandar Baharu and Kulim in Kedah, Seberang Perai Selatan, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Utara (Penang) and Kinta, Kampar, Kerian, Selama, Larut Matang and Kuala Kangsar (Perak).

The warning also covers Gua Musang, Kuala Krai and Jeli (Kelantan), Besut (Terengganu) and Cameron Highlands (Pahang).

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Subis (Miri), Kapit and Song (Kapit), Kanowit and Selangau (Sibu) and Julau (Sarikei).

In Sabah, similar weather is expected in Sook, Pensiangan, Tenom and Sipitang (Interior), Kinabatangan and Tongod (Sandakan), and Kalabakan and Lahad Datu (Tawau). - BERNAMA
