Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 135 new Covid-19 infections on Monday, an increase of eight compared to Sunday’s 127 cases.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said there was an increase in the number of test samples, from 1,498 on Sunday to 1,796 on Monday.

“The number of new infections is small because of the positivity rate factor which has decreased from 9.61 per cent on Sunday to 8.18 per cent on Monday,” he said in a statement, Monday.

Kota Kinabalu is still the highest contributor of new infections with 54 cases (-10), followed by Sandakan with 18 cases (+5), Tawau with 15 cases (+4) and Penampang 12 cases (+6).

Beaufort and Keningau, which did not register any infections on Sunday, each recorded five new cases.

Thirteen districts did not record any new infections on Monday compared to 15 districts on Sunday. Districts clear of infection include Tenom, Ranau and Lahad Datu which previously recorded infections.

A total of 131 out of the 135 new cases on Monday are in Category One and Two, one case in Category Three and three cases in Category Four.
