
MANILA, Philippines — Rubilen Amit and defending champ Chezka Centeno aim for an all-Filipino semifinal showdown at the WPA Women’s 10-Ball World Championship in Rome, Italy on Wednesday.
If they beat their respective opponents in the quarterfinals, the two world pool champions will battle in the semifinals and thus secure a Philippine representative in the final.
Amit faces South Korean Seoa Seo at 5 p.m. while Centeno takes on Japanese Kawahara Chihiro at the same time.
Amit advanced to the last eight by defeating Yuki Hiraguchi, 4-3, 0-4, 4-2, 4-0, while Centeno progressed with a 4-1, 2-4, 4-0, 4-1 victory over American Savannah Easton on Tuesday.
Semifinal matches are scheduled for Wednesday at 11 p.m. in Manila, while the final is set for Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
