Manila suspends Saturday classes as habagat, 'Maymay' bring rains

MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso on Friday ordered the suspension of classes at all levels in public and private schools on Saturday, August 8, as the southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by Tropical Depression "Maymay" continues to affect the city.

The suspension was issued upon the recommendation of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MCDRRMD), which cited forecasts indicating that rainy conditions will persist through Saturday.

Based on the latest weather models and rainfall outlook from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), rainfall is expected to range from light to moderate, with occasional heavy downpours.

The city government directed schools to implement Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM).
