MANILA, Philippines — Nxled head coach Ettore Guidetti is taking an "it is what it is" approach as the Chameleons await their fate in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational.
Nxled wrapped up its single-round robin elimination stage with a 3-2 record after fending off the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-20, 25-21, 18-25, 25-22, on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
To lock up a spot in the finals, the Chameleons need either a Creamline (3-1) loss to PLDT (2-2) or an EST Cola (3-1) loss to Ho Chi Minh City (1-3). Despite the tense waiting game, the Italian tactician refuses to get caught up in the math, focusing instead on his team's readiness.
“I think it is clear for everyone that this is a fighter team. We always try our best to bring the victory home; sometimes we succeed, sometimes we don’t. But it is always a fierce battle for us,” Guidetti said during the post-game press conference.
“Now we simply have to wait. What’s going to happen is not going to change anything for us—we’re going to find a way.” Guidetti made it clear that their determination remains unchanged regardless of which medal match they enter.
“I don't really care what final we're going to play, whether it's for first or third place. I'm sure the girls will do their best to bring home a podium finish either way,” he added.
MJ Phillips led the charge against Farm Fresh, firing off a game-high 25 points built on 19 attacks, four aces, and two blocks. Afterwards, she credited her team's resilience through a grueling schedule.
“Honestly, I give it to my teammates—I wouldn't be here without them,” Phillips said. “I'm so proud of their mentality to bounce back, especially after all these tiring games. I'm just really proud of how far we've come.” Playmaker Gel Cayuna orchestrated the offense with 22 excellent sets, enabling Jacq Acuña to deliver 12 points, while Jonah Sabete and Myla Pablo added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
