Perpetual Help sweeps girls volleyball elims

UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta scored a straight sets victory over defending champion Arellano University, 25-17, 25-21, to complete a 6-0 sweep of the elimination round in the NCAA Season 101 Girls Volleyball Tournament at the Arellano University Gym in Pasay City on Thursday.

Elizha Sildo led the Junior Lady Altas with 10 points — eight on attacks and two on blocks.

Sherrie Rose Acosta contributed 9 points and Isabel Baser added 5 points for the Sandy Rieta-coached team.

Team captain Jasmine Monte recorded nine excellent sets and one dig even as libero Janine Espiritu chipped in 10 digs and eight receptions.

Arellano University, on the other hand, was led by Penelope Vargas and Catherine Chu who netted six points apiece.

Perpetual Help will enter the final four as the No. 1 seed, followed by Arellano University (5-1) at No. 2. They both have the twice-to-beat advantage over their respective semifinal opponents.

Currently tied at No. 3 are Lyceum of the Philippines University and Emilio Aguinaldo College, both with 3-2 records. They will clash for the final game of the elims on Monday with the winner taking on Arellano University and the loser facing Perpetual Help in the semis.
